The New York University Creative Writing Program hosts the widely acclaimed writer Anne Carson in a new interactive performance, “Ghost Parts,” on Thursday, December 10, 2009. Two performances are scheduled at 7:00pm and 8:15pm. Featuring original text, the piece will be performed by Anne Carson along with artistic collaborators Mike Clemow, Robert Currie, Amy Khoshbin, and Adam Soldofsky.

The performance will be held at the Lillian Vernon Creative Writers House, 58 West 10th Street (between 5th and 6th avenues). The event is free and open to the public. Due to limited space, reservations are highly recommended. Reservations will be accepted after December 1, by email only, at ghostparts@gmail.com.

Anne Carson is an internationally acclaimed writer. Her books include Decreation (2005), The Beauty of the Husband: A Fictional Essay in 29 Tangos (2001), winner of the T.S. Eliot Prize for Poetry; Economy of the Unlost (1999); Autobiography of Red (1998), shortlisted for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the T.S. Eliot Prize; Plainwater: Essays and Poetry (1996); Glass, Irony and God (1995), shortlisted for the Forward Prize; and Goddesses And Wise Women (1992). Carson is also a classics scholar, the translator of If Not, Winter: Fragments of Sappho (2002), and the author of Eros the Bittersweet (1998). Her awards and honors include the Lannan Award, the Pushcart Prize, the Griffin Trust Award for Excellence in Poetry, a Guggenheim fellowship, and a MacArthur Fellowship. Carson joined the NYU faculty this year as Distinguished Poet-in-Residence.
