Among the Projects Being Presented: NYU Bike Share Program, AQUS Greywater, Radishes and Rubbish, Technoscrap Recycling Program
New York Universitys Sustainability Task Force will hold a symposium on student-and faculty-created environmental projects-showcasing the results of the universitys Green Grants environmental grant program. The Green Grants Project Symposium will be held from 5-8 PM on April 22nd, Earth Day, in the NYU Silver Centers Silverstein Lounge at 100 Washington Square East.
Green Grants fund projects that reduce NYUs adverse environmental impacts, educate, and engage the school community, demonstrate the viability of best practices and technologies, and advance applied research or educational goals. In 2007, the first round of grants was awarded to 15 projects for a total of $115,000, with another 23 proposals receiving more than $150,000 of support in 2008.
The event will feature presentations from previous Green Grant recipients on the progress of their projects, highlight new Green Grant recipients and outline their ideas, and offer an opportunity to find out more about Green Grants and how to turn big ideas into reality.

Since the programs inception in 2007, Green Grant recipients have taken on a range of sustainability-related projects focused on operational change, public engagement, or academic teaching, learning, and research. Subject areas included energy, water, buildings, food, land, procurement, transportation, and waste.
