The Department of Design for Stage and Film at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts will feature the work of 19 designers from its MFA graduating class of 2009 in a week-long exhibition. The annual event attracts hundreds of producers, directors, established designers, and other entertainment industry professionals who come to view the exhibit looking for new talent.

Entitled Design Show 2009, the exhibition will go on view May 6 and remain through May 13. The show is free and open to the public daily from noon to 8 p.m. (A special preview showing will be held Tuesday, May 5, from 3 - 5 p.m. followed by a reception from 5 to 8 p.m.) Admission is free. It is installed at the Tisch School of the Arts, 3rd floor Design Studio, located at 721 Broadway (between Waverly and Washington Place). The showcase will include the work of some of the best young talent emerging in the professional design field. It will comprise hundreds of designs for realized productions, and class projects for the theatre, film, and dance, in a wide variety of media, including scale models, costumes, production photographs, and sketches.-

The designers-five set, one film, seven costume, and six lighting-are all members of the 2009 graduating class and have completed the three-year MFA program. They are: Diana C. Bibee, Carmen Cárdenas, Simon Cleveland, Lara de Bruijn, Adam H. Greene, Greg Goff, Kara Harmon, Mike Inwood, Laura Jellinek, Anna Lacivita, Gian Marco Lo Forte, Joe W. Novak, Cait O’Connor, Amy Pedigo-Otto, Xavier V. Pierce, Jason Simms, Ioannis Sochorakis, Malgosia Turzanska, and Nicole Wee.
