Guest Choreographers are Susan Marshall and Brook Notary

The Second Avenue Dance Company will present its fall concert series featuring previews of one work each by guest choreographers Susan Marshall and Department of Dance alumna Brook Notary, in three performances from October 16-18. The concert series will also include work by eight student choreographers and student designs in lighting and costuming.

The concert will feature: Name by Name, Susan Marshall’s work for 18 women to an original score by composer David Lang. Tisch Department of Dance alumna Brook Notary will preview her physically daring new dance (untitled) for a male/female cast of 13. The student choreographers presenting work are: Christina Connerton, Catherine De Angelis, Tzu-Ying Lee, Danielle Schultz, Kristi Smith, Regina Sobel, Jaclyn K. Walsh, and Hee Ra Yoo.

The three performance concert series opens Thursday, October 16 and runs through Saturday, October 18. Curtain is 8 p.m. Admission is free. Second Avenue Dance Company is the resident dance company of the Department of Dance, Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. It comprises students in their final year of training and is designed to serve as the dancers’ transition into the professional world of dance. Cherylyn Lavagnino is chair of the Department of Dance at the Tisch School of the Arts. Lavagnino and Jaclynn Villamil co-direct the Second Avenue Dance Company.
