Solar-powered Vehicle Stops at NYU on its Record-setting Journey “Around the World”

New York University welcomes Louis Palmer’s Solartaxi http://www.solartaxi.com/, on Friday, September 12th at 1:00 PM, at Washington Place between University Place and Greene Street. Palmer, a Swiss teacher, is driving a solar-powered vehicle around the globe to raise awareness about global climate change. Palmer and his team have traveled 43,012 km thus far on their quest to set a world record as the first motor vehicle not powered by fossil fuels to drive around the world.

Palmer started his trip around the world in his solar powered vehicle, the “Solartaxi”, on the occasion of the European Sustainable Energy Forum in Lucerne, Switzerland, on July 3, 2007. Palmer’s goal is to travel around the world from west to east, traveling at least 50,000 km in 40 countries over five continents in 18 months time.
