New York University will celebrate the naming of its new Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute on Mon., Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. (20 Cooper Square, between 5th and 6th Streets). Expected to join NYU President John Sexton, Faculty of Arts and Science Dean Richard Foley, Institute Director Brooke Kroeger, and Arthur Carter are Forrest Sawyer, James Atlas, Joan Hamburg, Peter Kaplan, Jared Kushner, Robert Lipsyte, David Margolick, and Victor Navasky, among other guests.

This fall, NYU’s Faculty of Arts and Science re-designated its Department of Journalism the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, in recognition of Arthur Carter’s long-time support of journalism education at the university.

Carter, founder of the New York Observer and the Litchfield County Times, has previously supported the department with fellowships, scholarships, and sponsored lectures. He also has taught as an adjunct professor of philosophy and journalism at NYU.
