New York University’s Islamic Center at NYU and its Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life will co-host an “Evening of Twinning” on Sun., Nov. 23, 5 to 7 p.m. at NYU’s Kimmel Center for University Life (60 Washington Square South, Room 900). The event, in which Jewish and Muslim students will assume the identity of the other to promote mutual understanding, also includes discussions, workgroups, and panels that focus on ways to confront hate in American communities. The program is free and open to the public.

The evening is part of a national project sponsored by the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. “The Weekend of Twinning” (Nov. 21-23), to be held at synagogues and mosques across the United States, is designed to bring Muslims and Jews together to help combat Islamophobia and anti-Semitism. The Weekend of Twinning will run in conjunction with two public calls for an end to anti-Semitism and Islamophobia: a full-page advertisement in the New York Times and a Public Service Announcement on CNN. To view the print ad and PSA, go to the foundation’s web site: https://www.ffeu.org/index.htm.

Reporters interested in attending the NYU event must RSVP to one of the following: Khalid Latif, director and chaplain, the Islamic Center at NYU, at 212.998.4712 or kl442@nyu.edu; or Rabbi Yehuda Sarna, the Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life, at js1643@nyu.edu.
