The New York Institute for the Humanities at NYU will host “Antiquities Wars: A Conversation about Loot and Legitimacy” on Wed., Nov. 19, 7 p.m. at NYU’s Hemmerdinger Hall, 100 Washington Square East (at Washington Pl.). Subway Lines: A, B, C, D, E, F, V (West 4th Street); R, W (8th Street); 6 (Astor Place).

Participants include: former New York Times correspondent Sharon Waxman, author of the newly released Loot: The Battle over the Stolen Treasures of the Ancient World; James Cuno, director of the Art Institute of Chicago and author of Who Owns Antiquity? Museums and the Battle over Our Ancient Heritage; Princeton Philosophy Professor Kwame Anthony Appiah, author or Cosmopolitanism: Ethics in a World of Strangers; and Daniel Shapiro, an attorney specializing in art law and the president emeritus of the International Cultural Property Society.
