New York University Professor Hasia Diner will present “After the War: American Jewry Face a New Reality” as part of a two-day conference, “The World of Governor Lehman,” June 5 and 6, at Columbia University (Kellogg Conference Center, International Affairs Building, 15th Floor, 420 West 118th Street at Amsterdam Avenue).

Diner’s presentation on post-WWII America will be Fri., June 6, 8:45-10:15 a.m. The session will also include a lecture by Columbia historian Rebecca Kobrin: “From Patrons to Paupers: Yiddish New York and the Economic Crisis of 1929.”

Diner, a professor in NYU’s Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies, has authored The Jews of the United States, 1645 to 2000 (2004) and The Lower East Side Memories: The Jewish Place in America (2000), among other works.
