• WHAT: New York University’s Summer Publishing Institute (SPI) will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with a party on Tuesday, June 10, 2008.

Established in 1978, SPI has long been the gateway for recent college graduates eager to break into book and magazine publishing. Our faculty of industry leaders has offered their expertise, insight, and lasting connections to nearly 3,000 students-many of whom now work for top publishing companies in New York City and around the world.

SPI’s alumni and faculty of leading publishing professionals will connect with colleagues and friends at this special event. To date, several SPI alumni who are now executives at such prestigious companies as Random House, Scholastic, InStyle, McGraw-Hill, among many others, are confirmed to attend the party.

  • WHO: Keynote speakers include SPI alumni: Sylvia Barsotti, editorial director of About.com, who attended the class of 1978; Judy Hottensen, publisher, Weinstein Books; and Sara Nelson, editor-in-chief of Publisher’s Weekly and magazine program coordinator in 1994.
  • WHERE: Tuesday, June 10, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at NYU’s Washington Square Campus.
