An exhibition of digital painting by Pamela Cento entitled Inside will open on Friday, January 25, at 6 p.m., at New York Universitys Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò, 24 W. 12th Street. Inside, which features the artists latest digital-pictorial creations, with such works as EoF - Evidence of Form as well as video-paintings entitled e-Composition and Cento 2.0, will be on display through February 20. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For further information, call 212.998.8730 or visit www.nyu.edu/pages/casaitaliana.
Centros creations are obtained by digging and processing the basic numerical data of several digital images, which are then reworked and reinterpreted by the artist. Centos pixels fuse together, creating labyrinths of color that melt and combine in a two-dimensional space. Its an artistic work that originates from and returns back to the image, hardly discernable to the human eye at first glance. Fascinating sceneries are created, fluid and diluted in an electronic, digital composition.
Cento also elaborates on and plays with world-renowned paintings, distorting their forms using several animation programs that transform the static into the dynamic, forcing the viewer to take the leap into the current digital era.
