  • Tuesday, Mar. 4, 7 p.m. Lecture: “Vom Vorteil des Nachteils, da? Medien geistlos sind. Wissen und Nichtwissen in ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’” by Bernhard Dotzler, University of Regensburg. In German.
  • Saturday, Mar. 8, 6 p.m. Exhibition opening: Berlin artist Nicola Mueller displays her work in an exhibit entitled “Masquerade.” On view through April 5.
  • Tuesday, Mar. 11, 7 p.m. Lecture: “Reading Assassins. Critique of Paranoiac Reason” by Manfred Schneider, Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
  • Thursday, Mar. 13, 6 p.m. Max Weber Lecture Series on “Power and Architecture: The Construction of Capitals” continues with a lecture on “Images of Power: The European Union and Its Architecture” by Jürgen Neyer, Viadrina University, Frankfurt (Oder).
  • Friday, Mar. 14, 6:30 p.m. Film series, “In Tune with German,” continues with the screening of the film Beyond Silence (1998, Caroline Link, 107 min.). This Academy Award nominated film tells the story of a young woman’s battle for independence and her deaf parents’ struggle to understand her gift for music. In German with English subtitles.
  • Tuesday, Mar. 25, 7 p.m. Lecture: “Overcoming the Tradition: Schmitt, Arendt, Foucault” by Frederick M. Dolan, Berkeley.
