Festival Dates: February 28 - March 1, 2008

New York University’s 5th annual Fusion Film Festival will get underway February 28 and run through March 1, 2008. The Festival, a student-run event at the Tisch School of the Arts’ Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, celebrates the work of women filmmakers. This year, there were 63 films submitted to the Festival and 15 were chosen for screening to the public. A panel of industry judges will choose the three winning films.

This year’s centerpiece screening will be director Kimberly Peirce’s powerful new anti-war film Stop-Loss, starring Ryan Phillippe (Feb. 28). In addition to the film competition, other highlights include: a student documentary pitch competition; a screenplay competition; and a retrospective of the work of filmmaker and actress Adrienne Shelly, hosted by her husband Andy Ostroy with actor Paul Rudd (Mar. 1). In addition, producer Denise Di Novi (Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) will offer a master class on producing (Feb. 28).

The 5th annual Fusion Film Festival will be held from February 28 through March 1, 2008. Admission is free, but seating is limited, and all but one event is open to the public. For complete details including a schedule of all the events and their locations, visit: www.fusionfilmfestival.com.
