The work of 20 talented designers in set, costume, lighting, and film from the Department of Design for Stage and Film at New York Universitys Tisch School of the Arts will be featured in an exhibition of their work. The annual event, organized by the Department, benefits hundreds of producers, directors, established designers, and other entertainment industry professionals who come to view the exhibit looking for new talent.
Entitled Creative Collection 08, the exhibition will open May 7 and remain on view through May 15. The show is open to the public daily from noon to 8 p.m. (A special preview will be held Tuesday, May 6, from 3-5 p.m.) Admission is free. It is installed in the 3rd floor Design Studio in the Tisch School, located at 721 Broadway (between Waverly and Washington Place). The exhibition will showcase the work of some of the best young talent emerging in the professional design field. It comprises hundreds of designs for realized productions, and class projects for the theatre, film, and dance in a wide variety of media, including scale models, costumes, production photographs, and sketches.
The designers are all members of the 2008 graduating class and have completed the three-year MFA program. They are: Kate Ashton, Sia Balabanova, Tania Bijlani, Zachary Brown, Jonathan W. Collins, Alexis Distler, Sarita P. Fellows, Elizabeth Heilich, Jenilee Houghton, Sara James, Andrea Lauer, Jennifer Nweke, Damon Pelletier, Seth Reiser, Natalie Robin, Melissa Schlachtmeyer, Sara C. Walsh, Ciera Wells De koning, Derek Wright, and Daniel Zimmerman.
