NYU to Honor Ronald Dworkin in Symposium, April 10

  • WHAT: New York University School of Law and the Ludvig Holberg Memorial Fund will host a day-long symposium on April 10, 2008, dedicated to the work of NYU School of Law Professor Ronald Dworkin and in celebration of his receiving Norway’s 2007 Holberg International Memorial Prize, which recognizes outstanding scholarship in the arts and humanities, social sciences, law, and theology. The prize includes a $750,000 award.

Six distinguished legal theorists and philosophers will each present a paper relating to an aspect of Dworkin’s wide-ranging work in legal and political philosophy. Professor Dworkin will comment on the papers throughout the day, and there will be time for general discussion.

  • WHO: The six speakers are: Cass Sunstein, University of Chicago Law School; Lawrence Sager, University of Texas School of Law; Kathleen Sullivan, Stanford Law School; Thomas M. Scanlon, Jr., Harvard University; Janos Kis, Central European University and NYU; and Liam Murphy, NYU School of Law.
