About the Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts
The Gallatin School’s 117-seat Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts, which is furnished with a green room and technology control booth, will be used for a variety of events, including dramatic productions, dance performances, readings, and film presentations.

The theatre has a unique, custom-made retractable seating system that is on the cutting edge of theatre design technologies. The theatre and an adjoining gallery space are separated by a retractable wall that can move to accommodate events of varying capacity. The gallery space is an area in which student and faculty artwork will be displayed throughout the year. Because of Gallatin’s Broadway location, the first-floor theatre and gallery, along with the Wendy and Jerry Labowitz Lounge, enhance the School’s visible presence within the University and Greenwich Village communities and provide additional venues for student and faculty interaction and collaborative work.
