Fazle Hasan Abed, the founder and chairman of BRAC, an independent, virtually self-financed paradigm in sustainable development in Bangladesh, will present the inaugural lecture in the 2007-08 “Social Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century” speaker series sponsored by the Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation Program in Social Entrepreneurship at New York University.

The event, for which seating is free but limited, will be Friday, September 21, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, Puck Building, 2nd Floor, 295 Lafayette St. (@ Houston St.), New York, N.Y.

The “Social Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century” speaker series features social entrepreneurs who have created extraordinarily innovative and effective organizations addressing some of the most pressing public challenges of the 21st century. The series reflects the NYU Reynolds Program’s belief that social entrepreneurship is a meta-profession drawing on cross-disciplinary knowledge and practice. The speakers thus include prominent social entrepreneurs and leaders from across the spectrum of public and professional sectors. Each will share his or her insights as a cutting-edge, far-reaching change maker.
