  • WHAT: New York University hosted reception to honor Team USA New York athletes and NYU students participating in World Games in Shanghai in October, 2007.
  • WHEN: Wednesday, September 19th, 2007 - 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • WHERE: Hemmerdinger Hall, Silver Center for Arts and Science, 100 Washington Square East, Ground Floor, New York, NY 10003
  • WHY: In addition to celebrating Team USA athletes, the reception also will serve to announce the partnership between NYU and Special Olympics New York. The relationship is timely because NYC has been chosen as the pilot city for a new Urban Strategy developed by Special Olympics Incorporated. This initiative was designed to expand services in major cities. Special Olympics participants represent the largest disability population in NYC (and the world.) The goal is to double the number of athletes in NYC from 20,000 to 40,000 by the end of 2010.
