17th Annual Greenwich Village Children’s Halloween Parade

WHAT: New York University and Manhattan Community Board 2 will host hundreds of children, moms, and dads at the 17th Annual Greenwich Village Children’s Halloween Parade. Led by the NYU Pipes and Drums bagpipe brigade, children and families will march around Washington Square Park. Following the parade, the children will be treated to candy, face-painting, and live entertainment.

The Grand Marshals for the parade will be:

  • Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer
  • Chair of Community Board 2 Brad Hoylman
  • Director of NYU Government & Community Affairs Gary Parker

WHEN: Wednesday, October 31, 2007; parade starts at 3:30 pm; marchers start gathering at 3:00 pm

WHERE: The parade assembles along Washington Square North, near the Arch.

NOTE TO PLANNING AND ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

The parade provides very good, cute, daylight shots of kids in costumes parading around the park accompanied by parents. Good complement for coverage of the adult parade.

NYU students will perform for the kids - including NYU music groups, cheerleaders, and dance teams - and assist with distributing treats.

The parade is organized and conducted in cooperation with: the City of New York Parks and Recreation, Kmart, Con Edison, Associated Supermarkets-Morton Williams, Washington Square Association, The Village Alliance, NOHO NY, UPS, Scholastic, Greenwich Village-Chelsea Chamber of Commerce, Cold Stone Creamery @ Astor Place, Barnes & Nobles Booksellers, NYU Bookstores, McDonald’s of Broadway, & McBurney YMCA
