Honorary banker will be Simon Ziff, Ackman-Ziff president and NYU-REI alum
NEW YORK October 2007-The graduate alumni of New York Universitys Real Estate Institute (NYU-REI) will host their 15th annual Evening of Monopoly®-one of the real estate communitys must attend events-on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at Manhattans Puck Building. Over 500 industry executives will gather for cocktails, dinner and, of course, some intense rounds of the ever-popular Monopoly® board game.
Simon Ziff, president of Ackman-Ziff, is this years Honorary Banker. Ziff, who earned his MS in real estate finance at NYU-REI in 1991, is one the industrys brightest young leaders. In 1989, Ziff joined the firm as Larry Ackmans analyst, rising to become president in 1995. He has structured over $10 billion of debt and equity financings for some of the nations foremost real estate developers and owners. In the past 11 years, Ackman-Ziff has grown from three professionals to more than 40, hiring over 18 graduates and numerous interns from the NYU-REI.
An NYU Real Estate Institute Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, Ziff has also been recognized on multiple occasions by the Real Estate Board of New York, including as the first recipient of its Most Promising Commercial Salesperson of the Year Award and six times as the recipient of its Most Ingenuous Deal of the Year award.
The Evening of Monopoly® event is annual fundraiser, with the proceeds going to support scholarships and other educational programs at the NYU-REI. Last year, the event raised a record $250,000.
This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the NYU Real Estate Institute, which has grown into a vital academic center for the real estate and construction industries. NYU REI offers two graduate programs, continuing education programs and professional certificates, and numerous must attend conferences and seminars in the areas of real estate development and finance, and construction management.
