New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies presents the 26th Institute on State and Local Taxation, which for hundreds of tax practitioners, is the event of the year.

The Institute addresses all major areas of state and local taxation and attracts attorneys, accountants, state tax officials, tax directors, tax managers, and anyone seeking expert discussion of the latest in state tax technical, legislative, and planning developments. Attendees learn practical solutions and valuable insights from leading authorities throughout the industry. It’s a networking opportunity to share ideas, exchange views, and learn what others are doing, as well as obtain credit for continuing education.

This year’s luncheon address (Dec. 17 @ 12:45pm), “State Taxes: From LGA to LAX In 25 Minutes,” is a quick-hit review of the major tax issues likely to be considered in the 2008 state legislatures, keeping an eye out for the weird, the bizarre, and the downright humorous. The address is by Harley T. Duncan, executive director, Federation of Tax Administrators, Washington, DC. Following this, Richard D. Pomp, Esq., professor of law, University of Connecticut, will be honored with the award for Outstanding Achievement in State and Local Taxation from the Institute.
