WHAT: Five graduates from New York University’s Center for Advanced Digital Applications (CADA) have earned screenings at MetroCaf 2007(NYC ACM SIGGRAPH) and FameCast (11th Annual LA Shorts Fest) computer animation festivals.

The following graduates were selected to be part of MetroCaf 2007, which took place on September 27 in New York City:

  • Santosh S. Gunaseelan for “Metamorphosis”
  • Tomas F. Salles for “Equilibrio”
  • Chung-Hua (Amy) Wang for “Pepsea”
  • Zeth Willie for “The Needful Head”

The following student took the Animation prize FameCast 2007:

  • Matthew Kushner for his animated music video for indie singer Justin Catalino’s “When the Sky is Falling”

The students graduated this past spring from the M.S. in Digital Imaging and Design program at CADA, part of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (www.scps.nyu.edu). The computer graphics program immerses students in a multidisciplinary curriculum in which they experience a fusion of the arts in a professional production environment.

MetroCAF 2007 is the New York City Metropolitan Area College Student Animation Festival organized by NYC ACM SIGGRAPH.

FameCast is an innovative platform for artists to gain exposure in the new Internet-driven marketplace, in the form of a fan-generated contest. It is part of the LA Shorts Fest, the largest short film festival in the world.

INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES: Michael Hosenfeld, associate clinical professor at CADA and director of the graduate program in Digital Imaging and Design. Professor Hosenfeld is an expert in 3D visual effects and animation for film, and teaches Compositing and Painting for Visual Effects and Thesis Projects.

Students: Santosh S. Gunaseelan, who now works for Plus et Plus as a 3-D artist. Tomas F. Salles, who now works The Mill as a 3-D artist. Chung-Hua (Amy) Wang, a student from Taiwan, freelance Animator.
Zeth Willie, who now works at Framestore, JWT and others
