Award-winning novelist Rick Moody and critically acclaimed author Helen Schulman will read from their work on Thursday, October 25, at 7 p.m., at New York University’s Fales Library, third floor of the NYU Bobst Library, 70 Washington Square South. Moody, perhaps best known for The Ice Storm, which was made into a 1997 film directed by Ang Lee, received the Addison Metcalf Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He is also the author of Garden State, Demonology, and, most recently, Right Livelihoods: Three Novellas. He co-founded the Young Lions Book Award at the New York Public Library and has taught at SUNY/Purchase, Bennington College, and the New School.
Schulman, director of the MFA Program in Fiction Writing at the New School, is the author of The Revisionist, P.S., and, most recently, A Day at the Beach. She has written a short story collection, Not A Free Show, and is co-editor of the anthology, Wanting a Child. P.S. was made into a major motion picture starring Laura Linney and Topher Grace. Her awards include a Sundance Fellowship, a Pushcart Prize, and a New York Foundation for the Arts grant.
