NYU's World-Renowned Jazz Faculty Perform with Students at Cachaca Jazz 'N' Samba Club--Through Dec. 18

New York University’s Jazz Studies Program will showcase its world-renowned faculty, including “Saturday Night Live” saxophonist Lenny Pickett, and their students in a series of December performances at Cachaca Jazz ‘n’ Samba Club (35 West 8th St. [east of 6th Ave.]), running from Dec. 2 through Dec. 18. All performances are 7 to 9 p.m., with the exception of Dec. 11 (sets at 8 and 10:30 p.m.). Each performance is $5.
Evolution Is Deterministic, Not Random, Biologists Conclude From Multi-Species Study

A multi-national team of biologists has concluded that developmental evolution is deterministic and orderly, rather than random, based on a study of different species of roundworms. The findings are reported in the latest issue of the journal Current Biology.

As western nations see their Muslim populations grow, government officials and policy experts recommend improving relations between Muslim and non-Muslim communities in these countries through locally driven community-building initiatives and training media professionals to be more conscientious of how they portray Muslim communities, according to a new report released by New York University’s Center for Dialogues: Islamic World-U.S.-The West.
