New York University’s Center on Law and Security will host a conversation with Ambassador Said Jawad of Afghanistan on Tues., June 19, 12-1:30 p.m. at NYU Law School’s Lipton Hall, 108 W. 3rd Street (between Sullivan and Macdougal Sts.). Jawad has worked closely with Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai in formulating strategies, implementing policies, building national institutions, and prioritizing reforms in the country. He also worked with the U.S. and Afghan military experts to help reform the Ministry of Defense and rebuild the Afghan National Army. Jawad was instrumental in drafting Afghanistan’s foreign investment laws and also served as Karzai’s principal liaison with the constitutional commission during the process of the drafting of Afghanistan’s new constitution.
