With music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones (who co-wrote The Fantasticks) and book by N. Richard Nash, the show features songs such as “Rain Song,” “Raunchy,” and “Old Maid.” A drought has hit a small mid-western town and the plain, young Lizzie’s love life is as dried up as the Western soil. The men of the town try to set her up with Sheriff File, but things take a rather peculiar turn when Starbuck rides into town claiming that he is in fact, a Rainmaker!

NYU’s production will be directed by William Wesbrooks, with music direction by Michael Ricciardone. The cast and orchestra will feature the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students from NYU Steinhardt School’s Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions.
