Event Officially Kicks Off National Children’s Dental Health Month 2007
New York University College of Dentistry, in partnership with the American Dental Association (ADA), is leading a national volunteer initiative to Give Kids A Smile® by providing free educational, preventive, and restorative services to children, Friday, February 2, 2007. The services are part of a larger nationwide initiative to raise awareness and access to dental care for all children. Some 50,000 dental volunteers throughout the U.S. will provide an estimated $75 million in free care on February 2, to approximately one million underserved children.
- WHO: Participating youngsters from New York City schools
- WHAT: Free dental check ups, X-rays, sealants, custom-fitted mouth guards, “toothprints” which take an impression of a child’s bite and capture DNA for purposes of identification, and complimentary oral healthcare products. There will also be NYU nurses on site to do vision and hearing screenings and a nutritionist to provide height, weight, and BMI screenings.
