New York University College of Dentistry today announced the appointment of Dr. Michael P. O’Connor to the position of Executive Associate Dean for Administration & Finance. Dr. O’Connor succeeds Mr. Steven Donofrio, who has accepted the position of Vice President for Administration at New York University. Dr. O’Connor will be NYUCD’s chief financial officer (CFO), as well as the officer in charge of comprehensive operational and organizational issues, real estate, facilities and construction management, human resources and government relations.

Dr. O’Connor comes to NYUCD from the Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC), where he served most recently as Vice President & Senior Associate Dean for Organization & Professional Development and as Vice President & Senior Associate Dean for Budget & Finance and CFO. CUMC comprises Columbia’s four health-related colleges - Physicians & Surgeons, the School of Dental & Oral Surgery, the Mailman School of Public Health, and the College of Nursing.

Prior to that he served for 23 years as the Vice Dean for Finance & Administration at the Mailman School of Public Health, where he led the growth and development of the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health operating budget from $3 million per year to $130 million over a period of 15 years.

Dr. O’Connor holds a doctoral degree in education from Columbia University and an MPA from the City University of New York.
