BACKGROUND TO THE SYMPOSIUM:
The Symposium is being held in co-sponsorship with New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and its Center for Art and Public Policy. Similar to Common Ground’s full annual conferences, this Arts Symposium addresses a range of critically important themes related to the arts. The Symposium serves as a platform to investigate issues related to the Symposium’s theme: Art and Public Reception.

The conference examines the production, dissemination, and critical reception of the arts across a range of aesthetic media and geographical locations. Presentations draw from a variety of artists sharing their work and a range of critical prospective, literary studies, social sciences, humanities, philosophy, and public policy that pertains to the arts.
