Trumpeter Brian Lynch’s the Brian Lynch/Eddie Palmieri Project has won the Grammy Award for “Simpático,” Best Latin Jazz album of 2006. Lynch received the award on Feb. 11 during the 49th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Lynch is a faculty member in the Steinhardt School’s Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions’ Jazz Studies program.

Trumpeter Brian Lynch’s the Brian Lynch/Eddie Palmieri Project has won the Grammy Award for “Simpático,” Best Latin Jazz album of 2006. Lynch received the award on Feb. 11 during the 49th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Lynch is a faculty member in the Steinhardt School’s Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions’ Jazz Studies program.

The Brian Lynch/Eddie Palmieri Project was formed in collaboration with ArtistShare, an innovative website-based content delivery system. The project showcases Lynch and Palmieri, Lynch’s longtime musical mentor, in a CD project of new original music by Lynch and special collaborative works composed by Palmieri.

Lynch and the NYU Jazz Ensemble will be performing at the Blue Note (131 W. 3rd St.) on Sun., April 1, with sets at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
