One Night Performance Targets TV Industry for Emerging Alumni Talent

New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts will present a New TV Writers & Actors Showcase to introduce six emerging TV writers, who are graduates of the Rita and Burton Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing, the Division of Film & Television, and the Department of Drama. The featured writers are Laala Matias (2006 ABC/Disney Fellow), Will Matthews (Punk’d) and Cassandra Smith (SKATE GREAT!), Kimberly Mercado (Writer’s Assistant for Men in Trees), David Rock (2007 Eugene O’Neill Playwriting Conference Finalist), and Zach Zerries (WriteMovies Competition Finalist). Each will present a ten-minute play that features a talented cast of up-and-coming faces, alumni from the School’s top-ranked Graduate Acting Program and the undergraduate Department of Drama.

In addition, the evening will feature the West Coast premiere of a new short play by alumnus Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men, The Shape of Things).

The one-night showcase is a co-production of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, The Friars of Beverly Hills, the NYU Writers Lab West, The Tisch Grad Collective, and Tisch Actors West.
