All readings in September, which are free and open to the public, take place at the Writers House, unless otherwise noted. Thurs., Sept. 13, 7 p.m. Reading and conversation with Donald Revell, author of ten poetry collections and three volumes of translation, most recently A Thief of Strings and Pennyweight Windows. Introduction by Ronnie Yates.

Fri., Sept. 14, 7 p.m. Memorial reading for Phebus Etienne, NYU Creative Writing Program alumnus and Cave Canem Foundation Fellow.

Thurs., Sept. 20, 7 p.m. Poetry reading: Aracelis Girmay, author of Teeth and a collage-based picture book, Changing, Changing; Linda Susan Jackson, author of What Yellow Sounds Like; and Tracy K. Smith, author of The Body’s Question and Duende.

Fri., Sept. 21, 3:30 p.m. Reading and conversation with Undergraduate Faculty: Paul Lisicky, author of Lawnboy, Famous Builder, and the forthcoming novel, Lumina Harbor; and Matthew Rohrer, author of five poetry collections including Rise Up and A Hummock in the Malookas.

Thurs., Sept. 27, 7 p.m. Reading and conversation: “Women’s Words Without Borders”: Adrienne Rich, acclaimed author of 16 volumes of poetry and winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award and a National Book Award; Rich’s latest book is Telephone Ringing in the Labyrinth; Montserrat Abelló, Catalan translator for Rich and others, and author of At the Heart of Words: Collected Poems 1963-2002. Co-sponsored by the Institut Ramon Llull and the Catalan Center at NYU. Note Location: NYU’s Silver Center, Jurow Hall, 100 Washington Square East.

Fri., Sept. 28, 7 p.m. 2007 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Awards Readings features winners Elif Batuman, Sarah Branustein, Robin, Ekiss, Alma García, Jennifer Grotz, and Holly Goddard Jones. The Foundation provides support to women writers in the early stages of their writing careers.
