Television, stage, and film star Neil Patrick Harris along with other New York theatre notables will come out to help Broadway’s youngest producer Rachel Helson, an 18-year-old first-year drama student at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, stage a one-night-only concert version of The Rocky Horror Tribute Show to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. This is the third year that Helson’s production company, Acting for a Cure, has produced Rocky as a benefit. Her 2004 and 2005 productions in her hometown of Louisville, KY raised $50,000 for breast cancer research.
In addition to Neil Patrick Harris, who is a last-minute replacement for the narrator role, the cast includes: David Burtka (Broadway: Gypsy; Off Broadway: The Play About the Baby), NYU alumnus Kevin Cahoon (Broadway: The Rocky Horror Show, The Lion King, The Who’s Tommy), Rachel Helson (producer, singer & actor), Michael Formika Jones (New York City nightlife legend), Kate Reinders (Broadway: Gypsy, Good Vibrations, Wicked), Howie Michael Smith (Broadway: Avenue Q), Michael Sutherland (singer & actor), and Cathy Trien (singer & actor), among others. The production is directed by Gil Reyes, with musical direction by David Purcell, and costumes by Michael Piatkowski.
