The Wasserman Award ceremony, featuring the presentation of the Charles and Lucille King Family Foundation prizes, is the culmination of the 65th annual First Run Film Festival, presented by New York University’s Kanbar Institute of Film and Television at the Tisch School of the Arts. First Run is New York’s oldest continuous film festival, and each year premieres the work of some of the country’s top student filmmakers. This year, more than 120 projects are competing for over $50,000 in cash awards. The films and videos were all written, directed, and shot by graduate and undergraduate students from NYU’s Kanbar Institute.
Actor and star of television’s Crossing Jordan Jerry O’Connell, a 1995 alumnus of the Kanbar Institute, will present the awards for the graduate and undergraduate 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Host for the evening is Mary Schmidt Campbell, dean of the Tisch School of the Arts and associate provost of the arts at NYU.
