The work of 20 talented designers in set, costume, lighting, and film from the Department of Design for Stage and Film at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts will be featured in an exhibition of their work. The annual event, organized by the Department, benefits hundreds of producers, directors, established designers, and other entertainment industry professionals who come to view the exhibit looking for new talent.

The work of 20 talented designers in set, costume, lighting, and film from the Department of Design for Stage and Film at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts will be featured in an exhibition of their work. The annual event, organized by the Department, benefits hundreds of producers, directors, established designers, and other entertainment industry professionals who come to view the exhibit looking for new talent.

Entitled Design Show 2007, the exhibition will open May 2 and remain on view through May 9. The show is open to the public daily from noon to 8 p.m. (A special preview will be held Tuesday, May 1, from 3-5 p.m.) Admission is free. It is installed in the 3rd floor Design Studio in the Tisch School, located at 721 Broadway (between Waverly and Washington Place). The exhibition will showcase the work of some of the best young talent emerging in the professional design field. It comprises hundreds of designs for realized productions, and class projects for the theatre, film, and dance in a wide variety of media, including scale models, costumes, production photographs, and sketches.

The designers are all members of the 2007 graduating class and have completed the three-year M.F.A. program. They are: Kristen Adams, Brent Barkhaus, Tricia Barsamian, Oran Bumroongchart, Sarah Coombs, Sarah Cubbage, Raquel Davis, Jen Greeke, Brian Jones, Becky Lasky, Tláloc López-Watermann, Greg Mitchell, Akiko Nishijima, Driscoll Otto, John Raley, Marina Reti, Nick Robert, Dan Scully, Sean Tribble, and Dana Moran Williams.

Tony Award winner Susan Hilferty is the chair of the Department of Design for Stage and Film at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
