NYU Steinhardt Stages Operetta, <I>Orpheus in the Underworld</I>, Dec. 7 Thru 9

Orpheus in the Underworld, an operetta by Jacques Offenbach, will be presented as a chamber opera by New York University’s Program in Vocal Performance in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. The production runs December 7 - 9 in the Provincetown Playhouse at 133 MacDougal Street. Tickets are $15 general admission and $5 with valid NYU ID. New York University’s Jazz Studies Program will showcase its world-renowned faculty, including “Saturday Night Live” saxophonist Lenny Pickett, and their students in a series of December performances at Cachaca Jazz ‘n’ Samba Club (35 West 8th St. [east of 6th Ave.]), running from Dec. 2 through Dec. 18. All performances are 7 to 9 p.m., with the exception of Dec. 11 (sets at 8 and 10:30 p.m.). Each performance is $5.
