New York University Professor Elizabeth Norman, who will appear in a History Channel special on Iwo Jima and the upcoming film, “Flags of Our Fathers,” is available for comment on the Pacific Theater in World War II.

Norman, a professor at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Education, has written We Band of Angels: The Untold Story of American Nurses Trapped on Bataan by the Japanese (Pocket Books) and Women at War: The Story of Fifty Military Nurses Who Served in Vietnam (University of Pennsylvania Press). She is currently working on Tears in the Darkness, a co-authored study of American, Filipino, and Japanese soldiers who fought one another in the Philippines during World War II (Farrar, Strauss & Giroux).
