He’ll Go Toe-To-Toe On Medicaid Reform With Leaders of United Hospital Fund and NYC Health and Hospitals Corp.

Tommy G. Thompson, former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and former four-term Governor of Wisconsin, will present his ideas for making the federal health insurance program for the poor - Medicaid - more cost-effective on Wednesday, October 11th at New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Thompson is currently the leader of a campaign called “Medicaid Makeover.”

Joining Thompson for the discussion of Medicaid reform will be two other well-known experts in the field of hospital and healthcare management: James R. Tallon, Jr., President of the United Hospital Fund and Chairman of the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured, and Alan D. Aviles, President & Chief Executive Officer of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.

The two-hour forum promises to be a lively discussion of an issue with gathering fiscal and social implications, both statewide and nationally. The discussion will be moderated by Rogan Kersh, NYU Wagner associate dean for academic affairs and professor of public service. There will be a Q&A segment.
