Dr. Terry Fulmer, PhD, RN, FAAN, dean of NYU College of Nursing, and Dr. Claire Fagin, PhD 64, RN, FAAN, chair of the National Board of Advisors of NYU’s John A. Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing, received honorable mentions in the annual New York Times Job Market “Tribute to Nurses” on November 19, 2006. Their awards were presented in the category “Nurse Educator,” which honors nurses who have “chosen to pass along their knowledge, skills and love for their profession” a definition that aptly applies to Drs. Fulmer and Fagin.
“Given that the national nursing shortage has led to a critical shortage of nurse educators as well, it is significant that The New York Times has begun to recognize the importance of nursing faculty in its annual awards,” said Dean Fulmer. “The College of Nursing strives to create the next generation not only of nurses but as teachers of nursing as well.”
