For winning, Ellison received a $10,000 check from Unilever, the award’s sponsor, to use for tuition or to donate to a charity of his choice. The company has also offered him an internship at the company.
The winner of the award was announced this spring during the JRF Scholars’ Networking Weekend Family Luncheon. Rachel Robinson, founder of the Jackie Robinson Foundation and wife of the late Jackie Robinson, was in attendance along with her daughter Sharon Robinson and her son David Robinson to congratulate Ellison.
