Tues., Apr. 4, 7 p.m. Lecture: “The Art of Conversation” by Joern Jacob Rohwer, author and journalist.


Thurs. - Sat. Apr. 6 - Apr. 8 Graduate Student Conference, presented by the Departments of German and Comparative Literature at NYU. “Making Friendship: Bonds, Boundaries, Becomings” explores the notion of friendship in its various conceptualizations and codifications, both throughout history and in the present. Note: Opening address on April 6, 7 p.m., takes place at 19 University Place.


Tues., Apr. 11, 7 p.m. Panel discussion: “Old Europe, New Europe, Core Europe” with Daniel Levy, SUNY Stony Brook; John Torpey, CUNY Graduate Center; and Max Pensky, SUNY Binghamton.


Tues., Apr. 18, 7 p.m. Lecture: “Ethical Spectacle: Must Fantasy Lead to Fascism?” by Stephen Duncombe, NYU.


Thurs. - Fri. Apr. 20-21 Conference: “Conflicting Memories and European Integration.” Since the enlargement of the EU last year, the discussions on how to remember each country’s past have intensified.
