The Lunchbox Fund ( has partnered with Culture Project’s “AMAJUBA: Like Doves We Rise,” directed and created by Yael Farber (July 25-Aug. 21; preview performances begin Thurs., July 20, 8 p.m.). A portion of the proceeds will to toward the Lunchbox Fund, which provides school lunches for children in South Africa (enter JLUNCH when purchasing tickets). “AMAJUBA,” described as “STARTLING and GLORIOUS! A gripping and moving experience!” by the Independent (U.K.) and “IRRESISTIBLE!” by the London Times, is a portrayal of the real lives of the five South Africans growing up under Apartheid.

Founded by NYU student Topaz Page-Green, a native of South Africa, the Lunchbox Fund is changing the lives of hundreds of students in South Africa’s poorest schools by providing disadvantaged and impoverished pre- and secondary school children with the food they need to help them achieve their goals in life. The Lunchbox Fund expects to feed all the children who need help at six schools in Soweto and Pretoria this year. Previously, Green organized an event in which she obtained lunchboxes decorated by dozens of celebrities, including the following: Clint Eastwood, Halle Berry, Michael Stipe, Bono, Bill Clinton, David Bowie and Iman, Mario Batali, Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Hillary Swank, Mike Myers, Chuck D, Naomi Campbell, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Gus Van Sant, Joaquin Phoenix, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Patti Smith, and Lisa Marie Presley.
