New York University’s Jazz Studies Department will feature jazz trumpeter Brian Lynch on Sun., Feb. 5 for two sessions-12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.-at the Blue Note (131 W. 3rd St). The program is part of the Blue Note’s Sunday Brunch Series, in which NYU Jazz faculty bands play the first Sunday of every month at the Blue Note.
Lynch, an NYU faculty member, will lead and play trumpet with the band of advanced NYU jazz students. Lynch toured with Eddie Palmieri and the Afro-Caribbean Jazz Octet as co-composer and musical director and played trumpet with and composed for Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. For the last decade he has played trumpet in the Phil Woods Quintet.
