The 5th annual hotINK International Play Reading Festival, organized and presented by the Department of Drama at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, has announced that it will run for two consecutive weekends this month; January 21 and January 28, 2006. The event brings together talented Tisch undergraduate actors with alumni and non-alumni playwrights, actors, and directors from around the world to present readings of new work to New York audiences.
This year’s festival will feature work by Steven Drukman, Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros, Galt MacDermot, Heather MacDonald, Marsha Lee Sheiness, Caridad Svich, and Liz Swados, among others. In addition to the outstanding U.S. playwrights, hotINK 2006 will include playwrights and directors from Serbia, Austria, Syria, France, The Netherlands, the U.K., and Cuba.
The festival will run for two weekends in a row: Saturday to Monday, January 21, 22 and 23; and Saturday and Sunday, January 28 and 29. All readings will be at 7:30, unless otherwise noted, and will be held at the Tisch School of the Arts, 721 Broadway (at Waverly Place). Readings are open to the public and admission is free.
