One Night Performance Targets TV Industry for Playwrights “Crossing Over”

For the first time in Los Angeles, New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts will present a New Writers Showcase to introduce five emerging/produced playwrights, who are all MFA graduates of the Rita and Burton Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing, and are crossing over to the television industry. The featured playwrights are Gina Gold, Susan Johnston, Aurorae Khoo, Eric Loo, and Avery O.Williams. Each will present a ten-minute play that features talented casts of up-and-coming faces, all MFA alumni from the School’s top-ranked Graduate Acting Program.

In addition, the evening will debut the West Coast premiere of a new short play by Pulitzer Prize winner and Tisch alumnus, Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife, Quills) directed by alumnus Oz Scott. The evening will be hosted by Victor Williams, from the sitcom King of Queens and an alumnus of the Graduate Acting Program.

The one-night showcase is a co-production of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, The Friars of Beverly Hills, the NYU Writers Lab West, and The Tisch Grad Collective.
