The Dan Tepfer Trio will perform a jazz concert, “Improvisational Contemporary Jazz at the Intersection of Musical Cultures,” on Friday, January 12, at 8 p.m., at La Maison Française of New York University, located at 16 Washington Mews (at University Place). The trio is comprised of Dan Tepfer on piano, Jorge Roeder on double bass, and Richie Barshay on drums. The event is free and open to the public; to reserve a seat, call 212.998.8750.
New York-based pianist Tepfer won first prize as well as the audience prize in the recent Montreux Jazz Festival Bösendorfer Solo Piano Competition. Originally from Paris, he has been touring and performing internationally with Peruvian bassist Roeder and American drummer Barshay for over three years. The concert will feature original compositions and new arrangements of jazz standards that emphasize improvisational freedom.
This concert is part of the “French Quarter Festival” organized by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in conjunction with the 34th IAJE International Conference.
