“Storefront/Forefront” will feature the works of over a hundred undergraduate and graduate students in NYU Steinhardt’s Art and Art Professions Department - from studio artists with international exhibition experience, to art educators working with incarcerated girls to express themselves through art.
“Storefront/Forefront” will feature the works of over a hundred undergraduate and graduate students in NYU Steinhardt’s Art and Art Professions Department - from studio artists with international exhibition experience, to art educators working with incarcerated girls to express themselves through art. The exhibition, from May 6-14, is free and open to the public.
The exhibition will reference the legacy and the vibrant history of the East Village art scene of the 1980’s, and the legendary Times Square show, which brought installations by a host of East Village artists into the heart of midtown Manhattan, and became a worldwide symbol of art which moves beyond galleries and museums and into the streets.
WHAT: “Storefront/Forefront”
An exhibition featuring NYU student works, with direction by Studio Art faculty Carol Bove, Jesse Bransford,David Rimanelli, Keith Mayerson, Sue DeBeer, Nancy Barton, Chuck Agro, Gerry Pryor, and Mark Johnson. Student art in various mediums - from video installations, paintings, performances, sculptures, and photographs - will fill thousands of square feet and will fuse high art with community art.
