This spring’s French elections dealt a blow to President Jacques Chirac and his proposed reductions in social welfare programs. But many contend changes in France’s welfare system are long overdue. Where does the country go from here? “Reforming the Welfare State? Reflections on the French Case” will be delivered by Dr. Jacques Mistral, the French embassy’s financial counselor, on Wednesday, November 10, 6:30 p.m. at New York University’s La Maison Française. Also speaking will be Bernard Spitz, the founder of BSC Conseil, a strategic consulting company that provides key advice to international business leaders in the process of decision-making in France. Both speakers’ remarks will be delivered in English.
