New York University is hosting Joel I. Klein, New York City Schools Chancellor, to discuss school reform as part of The Steinhardt School of Education’s Education Policy Breakfast Series.

Joel I. Klein is Chancellor for the New York City Department of Education. Formerly chairman and CEO of Bertelsmann, Inc., a media company, he directs Children First, the multi-year strategy to reform the city’s public school system. Mr. Klein was Assistant U.S. Attorney General in charge of the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice from 1995-2000 and Deputy White House Counsel to President Clinton from 1993-1995.
Chancellor Klein’s talk is the second of two presentations on Mayor Bloomberg’s Restructuring of New York City Public Education. In the first breakfast presentation, the historian Diane Ravitch, a Steinhardt faculty member, placed the Bloomberg program in a historical perspective.
