Glucksman Ireland House at New York University, located at One Washington Mews (at Fifth Avenue), will host two special events in May. Events are $8 for non-members; free to students and members. On Thursday, May 1, 7 p.m., Ireland House and NYU Irish Language Lecturer Pádraig O’Cearúill will host Airneál na Bealtaine, an evening of traditional music and song with NYU students and local musicians celebrating the beginning of the Celtic summer.

On Thursday, May 29, 7 p.m., Irish writer Joseph O’Connor reads from Star of the Sea, his new novel about the Irish famine described as a “novel of secrets, mystery and murder, and above all else the importance and power of storytelling.” His former novels include Cowboys and Indians, Desperadoes, and The Salesman.
